About Us

Unlocking Opportunity through Education

At èצӰÏñ, we believe that high-quality education is a powerful driver of opportunity and progress. Our team of experts is deeply committed to expanding access to learning for all, grounded in decades of experience and a relentless pursuit of excellence. From building foundational skills to supporting lifelong learning, our programs respond to the evolving needs of individuals and communities. We work to broaden pathways for youth and adults to thrive in education, work, and life—partnering with local organizations and systems to deliver impactful, sustainable solutions that strengthen education worldwide.

èצӰÏñ uses collaborative, evidence-informed solutions and deep local expertise to advance learning and workforce readiness across the lifespan.

èצӰÏñ and JSI formally joined forces to advance health and education outcomes worldwide.

After more than 30 years as affiliated nonprofit organizations, èצӰÏñ became a division of JSI on July 1, 2023. This merger strengthened our ability to deliver high-quality programs by aligning operations, streamlining support, and deepening our shared commitment to local leadership and lasting impact. While we now operate as one organization, the èצӰÏñ name and logo remain—reflecting our continued dedication to transformative education and community-driven change.

Since its founding, èצӰÏñ has reached millions of people in over 50 countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, as well as in the United States—expanding access to education and opportunity for all, and supporting meaningful, lasting change. What began in 1951 with community-based literacy efforts in India has grown into a global commitment to improving lives through education and training.

The Bantwana Initiative

Launched in 2006, was born from a shared vision between èצӰÏñ and our African partners to support orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV and poverty. In alignment with its locally led mission, Bantwana teams in Zimbabwe, Eswatini, and Uganda became independent organizations in 2018, 2021, and 2023. In 2024, they came together to form the Bantwana Regional Network—preserving the Bantwana name and vision while expanding impact across sub-Saharan Africa. Though èצӰÏñ and the Network now operate independently, they remain connected by a shared legacy of community-driven, integrated support for youth, women, and families.
